Style and Select – The Outfit Coordination Tool You Gotta Check Out

The million-dollar question of every photo session seems to be “what will I wear??” Clothing choices are very important to upscale your images and match your location. They can completely change the feel of images, from boho to casual to vintage vibes. This is something clients struggle with the most. Because I want to take the stress off mom’s plate, I am using a styling service called Style and Select in 2021! This service will be complimentary with every booked session!

What is Style and Select?

Style and Select in an online interactive styling tool. It curates outfits for the entire family based on your style type. Their tagline is “outfit coordination made easy” and I couldn’t agree more! I am a very visual person, so being able to see all potential outfits together is a huge benefit. I don’t know of any other tools like it. Pinterest boards are helpful, but Style and Select allows you to mix and match your own outfits just for your family. 

Start with your style

It starts with a questionnaire that either the photographer can fill out or the client can complete. You select your style type from either urban hipster, romantic boho, or casual and charming. If you’re not sure, you can always go through the questionnaire again and get new suggestions. This is something you’ll want to play around with until you get what you like. 

Sizing

Next, you select how many people you are styling and their size and gender. They’ve recently made upgrades to size choices. You can now choose: adult (S-XL), child (6-12), toddler (2T-5T), infant (0-24m), teen (senior/graduation), maternity, or plus size. 

Color Combinations

Then you will choose two color combinations that you like best. You can always redo this and complete it again if you change your mind. Think about where you’ll be getting photos done and what colors coordinate well.

For example, in summer most sessions are done where it’s very green in WI. Picking neutrals, navy blue, and yellow work well. Always reach out to me to ask about colors and location. I will be able to tell you what will look best! 

Select

Starting with person 1, go through each person and select your favorite items for them. Hit the heart to add it to your board. You can upload photos of your own items to see how they will coordinate with the rest of the outfits. This feature is so helpful because it allows you to see how items you already own will match with everything else! 

Hit the shopping cart button to see where an item is from. This is a great way to discover new clothing sites online! It’s been especially helpful for finding new children’s clothing options like Zara, Hayden Girls, and Bailey’s Blossoms.

Once you complete the questionnaire, both of us will be emailed your selections with a link to purchase the items online. The nice part about this is you don’t have to buy every item on the list. You can mix and match with items you already own.
