If there’s one thing that we need right now, it’s family. There is nothing better and more meaningful than preserving memories with your loved ones. I am grateful I got to meet the Le Clairs and capture their love for one another. They met me in fall for extended family photos at Scheig Center & Gardens in Memorial Park in Appleton, WI. It was a super busy day for fall family photos and the park was packed with other families and photographers. This was my first fall photographing families and it was eye-opening for sure! We found the perfect spot at Scheig and captured some beautiful golden hour photos.

I know how much family photos mean to the families I photograph. I really appreciated how much time and preparation they took for their photos. It really shows! They did such a great job coordinating outfits, which can be tricky with a large group. They also took the time to prepare big brother to hold his new baby brother which made sibling shots go so much smoother. The Le Clairs were so awesome to work with. Everyone was very laid back and go with the flow. They embraced the prompts and had the best fake laugh I’ve ever seen. 🙂

As most of you know, I lost my mom about 8 years ago. It always hits me when I see grandparents with their grandchildren how much I miss her and how much I wish she could’ve met my kids. Part of the reason I started doing photography was the realization that time doesn’t come back. At the end of the day, photos are all we have to bring those memories back. I spent hours as a child going through our family photo books because I loved to see pictures of what I couldn’t remember. I would ask my mom to tell me about the different places we went and what I was like as a chld. I can now do the same thing with my kids and I look forward to sharing all the wonderful little quirks they have.

I’m so glad I got to meet and capture extended family photos for the Le Clairs this fall. I’m also in love with their photos. They are such a warm, beautiful, loving family. I can only imagine how fun their get-togethers are.
