If you’re from Wisconsin, you know that weather can be very unpredictable especially in the spring. When we decided on the end of April for the Jenssen family’s maternity session we were taking a gamble. Sure enough, the day before their session, it snowed out! The spring of 2021 has especially been back and forth with hot weather and cold weather. Gotta love being a Green Bay maternity photographer in spring! Expect a mixed bag of weather for sure! Luckily, we picked a beautiful spring day for maternity photos at Scheig Gardens Center in Memorial Park in Appleton. No snow!

Family sessions are always unpredictable especially with little kids. Sometimes kids are so excited and ready for anything and some kids run the other way when I pull a camera out. Either way, we roll with it! I have little tricks up my sleeve to help when kiddos start to lose interest. During The Jenssen’s maternity session, I pulled out a couple of props that I brought along that really helped keep their daughter engaged in the session. I had a little basket that I brought that she really liked and I also pulled out my “camera buddy” which is a unicorn that is attached to the front of my camera. I make my unicorn dance and that always gets good smiles and keeps the session fun! I also think ahead and plan a couple of activities like getting families moving by dancing and walking. This helps loosen everyone up!

We were so lucky during this spring maternity photos in Appleton WI with beautiful weather and gorgeous flowers at the Scheig Center. I enjoyed documenting this family before they are about to become a family of four. The time before they welcome baby number two goes by so quickly so I am happy that I could help them remember this special time in their life.
