Are newborn sessions possible with an older newborn?
Yes!
In general, I recommend newborn sessions to be taken within the first two weeks of life. However, if circumstances make it difficult to get a session in before then, it’s not impossible to shoot a newborn baby who is a little older. When Lior’s mom contacted me about a newborn session this summer, he was 4 weeks old. Babies who are a little older might fuss a little more, but it is definitely still possible to get beautiful newborn baby photos done in-home. If you’re looking for an Appleton newborn photographer, please contact me, even if your baby is already born. This time goes by so fast and you certainly don’t want to miss out on getting photos taken.
Favorite Moments from Lior’s Newborn Session
While baby Lior was a little bigger than the newborns I typically shoot, he still fit in most of my props. He filled out the wraps much better than 1-2 week olds. I was surprised by how well he did during his baby-alone portion. I use a little magic with the Swaddle Pro swaddle, white noise, and a warm room. That usually helps settle babies quickly. I loved these new setups I used for his shoot! New props and combinations are fun to plan ahead of time and then come to life.
My favorite moments from his session were his little finger poking out during his posed setups, his tiny feet that Mom & Dad immediately said they needed printed and hung on their wall for home, and the sweet snuggles with his older sister. He is lucky to have such a beautiful, loving family to welcome him home. I am so excited to deliver their framed print, canvas, and album very soon! They were such a pleasure to work with.
