I met the Kreider family at Bubolz Nature Preserve in Appleton, WI this summer for newborn and family photos. As an Appleton newborn photographer, I welcomed the opportunity to shoot newborn and family photos outside!
Mom and Dad have their hands full with a family of three boys, but they did so great during our photoshoot. The boys were awesome at following prompts, running around, tickling, and even sitting still for a couple of photos! They were such a dream to work with. As a mom of two girls, getting some boy energy in front of my camera is always welcome.
As a parent, I know it can be nerve-wracking to go into a photoshoot and not be sure how your kids will act. But honestly, I totally get it! I incorporate lots of movement in posing so that kids are just sitting and smiling at the camera most of the time. We still get a couple “grandma shots”, but the majority are candid images of the family laughing, walking, and looking at each other. These are the best because they show the connection between family members, not the connection between the family and the camera.
Looking at Libby & Jon and their new baby brought back many memories of that newborn phase. They are doing so awesome at raising such wonderful boys. I’m so glad I was able to capture these memories for this family. I know just how quickly the newborn phase goes and without photos to look back on, it can feel super fast. I’m glad they’ll be able to look back and see just how little their boys were and how much love they have for each other.
