Kristen reached out to me a couple of months ago about a mother-daughter sunset session. She shared the last time they had photos together her daughter was 18 months old. She talked about how quickly time has gone and how excited she was to get updated photos. We discussed the best outdoor location and what to wear at her pre-session consultation call. It was so nice to talk to her ahead of time so she felt prepared going into her session. We decided on High Cliff State Park for her session which is a favorite location for Fox Valley photographers. It’s beautiful there any time of year! I especially love the Butterfly Pond Trail for photos.
Kristen and her daughter spent the session snuggling, laughing, walking, and doing some sneak attacks. It was very laid back and relaxed. There’s no pressure to always smile and look at the camera. I much prefer to capture the connection between a family rather than a posed “everyone look at the camera” portrait. We had the best sunset during her session. The glow of the sun behind the trees was to die for!
After her session, she viewed her gorgeous sunset photos in a slideshow set to music, which is way better than clicking through an online gallery! I guided her through product options including albums, fine art canvases, and fine art prints. She ordered all her products during her viewing and ordering appointment with me so she wasn’t left with homework after her session. The best part of this whole experience is getting photos printed and displayed in her home!
As a mama myself, I know just how much these photos mean. There’s always some reason we don’t want to get in front of the camera, but it’s SO important to get these photos taken. The connection between you and your kiddos deserves to be documented. I am so glad Kristen and her daughter will have these moments to look back on later in life.
